BOCCE TOURNAMENT RAINOUTS
Tournament rainouts are entirely different than league play
rainouts.
For the tournament to proceed a scheduled match must be
played before the next scheduled matches. Therefore if a
rainout occurs, the 2 teams must schedule a time as soon as
possible to play or finish the match before the matches the
next week.
If it is raining all players should come to the court to see
if the match can be played and if not, meet right then and
decide on a makeup time. This will save the captains a LOT
of trouble in setting up the makeup.
If a rainout occurs during a match the 2 captains determine
when the court becomes unplayable (typically this is when
the topping starts sticking to the balls, court becomes
muddy, or puddles start forming). The captains record how
many games each team won, the score in the game at the time,
and which team scored the last point or game won. The makeup
starts right where the rainout match ended.
If any court is playable, the teams scheduled for that court
plays the match. The teams scheduled for the unplayable
courts must schedule a makeup.
Once a team has won 3 games a match is over and therefore,
no makeup is needed. |
